J.S.from Bigfoot came to room 10 to teach us about bike skills. He began by teaching us some safety precautions around bike riding.
Some of the skills he taught us were to check your brakes, wheels, bolts and reflectors before you ride your bike. You can wear reflective gear and use reflective tape. If you don’t have these equipment then you can use slap bands. You have to wear visible clothing so you can stand out at night. You can wear a bright coloured t-shirt during day time. The last thing you have to check is your helmet for cracks. J.S. said if you have a bike crash you can be seriously injured.By Douglas
Kia ora Douglas,
ReplyDeleteYou have learnt some really important bike safety lessons and I hope you remember them. Too often, I see people (children and adults) riding their bikes with either no helmet or with their helmet almost falling off their head. Robin's Kea group had a visit from a policeman who showed photos of people who lost their ears in accidents as they did not have their helmets on safely!
Keep safe!
